Agriculture in the Classroom

Ag in the Classroom (AITC) is a program in which educators visit schools sharing lessons and activities promoting agricultural awareness and literacy. Agricultural literacy across the population is a major goal of the USDA, and ag education for students in both formal and informal settings has been identified as a key strategy in reaching this goal. An agriculturally literate person understands the importance of agriculture and can clearly communicate how it touches every aspect of our daily lives, economy, and planet. Ontario County’s AITC program reaches students in all the public districts in our county with lessons based on New York Ag, plant science, animal science, and natural resources.
