Preserving Strawberry Jam or Jelly

Come to learn the basics of making and preserving strawberries as a jam or jelly, in collaboration with New York Kitchen. First, join us to pick strawberries at Chase Farm in Fairport, NY at 9:30 am, then head into the hands-on kitchen where Cornell Cooperative Extension Ontario Master Food Preserver Emma Wilson will walk through the steps of making a delicious strawberry jam, as well as what equipment is necessary, where to find it, and how to maintain it. 

Participants will get to make and take a jam of their own and gain an understanding of how to safely preserve that product. In addition to hands-on experience, participants will learn where to find tried and true resources for home food preservation so they can continue to preserve the seasons harvest on their own. Light refreshments will be served.
