Proper knife handling is the foundation of great cooking–if you dream of slicing and dicing like a pro, join us for this new spin on our always popular Knife Skills Class! Break down a squash and a watermelon with ease after this class! We will put our knives to the test and become a more skilled cook after this class. You will also be safer and more efficient, which will equal less time in the kitchen! We will also create a quick veggie pickle with all of your practice cuts!

Learn the basics of pickling by hot water bath submersion with CCE Master Food Preserver Emma Wilson. Quick pickling, or refrigerator pickling, can extend the life and add new flavors to any vegetable! Join us to learn the basics of quick pickling, safe ways to preserve your pickled product, and where to find tried and true recipes that will hold up on the shelf. Quick pickling uses acidity and heat to preserve your favorite produce, in this class you will gain hands on experience quick pickling and leave with a jar you can open and enjoy in just a few days, as opposed to weeks or months by fermenting produce for pickles. This class is a great introduction to food preservation and pickling, no experience necessary!

Everyone will go home with a beautiful jar of pickled veggies!

You can also choose to purchase a brand-new Mercer 8” Chef’s knife (the same type used in class) to bring home with you! Simply add this option to your order below and we will have the knife at your station when you arrive.

NY Kitchen's Hands-On Kitchen is designed for two people per station. If you come on your own, you may be partnered with another guest in the class. If you’d prefer to be at your own station, we may be able to accommodate this, please note your preference during the checkout process.
