Why Landscape with Native Plants? CANCELLED

  • Wednesday, April 5, 2023, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Over the years many new plants have been introduced into our landscape, not all with a positive outcome. These troublesome plants have become invasive. Some were intentional introductions while others were not. These invasives can change the ecosystem by out competing and replacing native plants. Such a change affects many different factors in the environment. Matt Gallo, Terrestrial Invasive Species Coordinator with the Finger Lakes PRISM will give an introduction to invasive species, history of the different horticultural pathways, why non-natives can become invasive, discuss common invasives that were introduced through horticulture and go over native plant alternatives.
