Another invasive insect is knocking at our doorstep, and it is poised to cause substantial plant injury/death. The spotted lanternfly will likely have a negative impact on home landscapes and a major impact on the grape industry and other agricultural commodities such as maple syrup and tree fruits.

Early detection of this insect is critical in preventing and slowing its spread to new areas. Matt Gallo, Terrestrial Invasive Species Coordinator for the Finger Lakes PRISM, will describe what the spotted lanternfly is, its reproduction, life cycle, plant hosts, why it is a problem and what actions we can take in dealing with this pest.

Fee: $5.00/family. Advance registration is required. To register contact Cornell Cooperative Extension at 585-394-3977 x 427 or email Nancy.
