STAFF RECRUITMENT IS OPEN FOR 2024!

CCE Ontario and CCE Cayuga will collaborate to staff and manage the Milk Bar at the Great New York State Fair, August 21 to September 2, 2024 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. We are seeking youth aged 14 and up to fill paid temporary positions for Cashier ($17/hr) and Educator/Milk Pourer ($15.50/hr) as described below.  An additional temporary Milk Bar Manager position is being developed and will be posted soon.

Location & Scheduling

The Milk Bar is located inside the air-conditioned Dairy Products Building on the New York State Fairgrounds.  Applicants hired for these positions will work shifts that total 6-to-8 hour/day, and must work at least 6 days during the 13-day run of the Fair. Those who wish to work more than 6 days can work as many extra days and hours as they are legally eligible to work based on their age. All hired staff must attend paid training on 8/19/24 and 8/20/24. Workers are responsible for their own transportation to the work site.


2024 OPEN POSITIONS

NYS Fair - Milk Bar Cashier ($17/hr)

Summary: This position will work under the direction and supervision of the NYS Fair Milk Bar Manager. Primary responsibilities include operating a cash register, cash controls, customer service, educating the public about dairy and where the milk came from and letting youth know about the 4-H Youth Building. Applicants are required to work a minimum of 6 days of the 13 day fair and attend training on 8/19/24 and 8/20/24.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to complete basic math in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in customer service and retail environments
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to get to work and be on time
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a cash register
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks - - only for those 18-19 and above)
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate
  • Knowledge of dairy and dairy practices
