Landscape Technicians Training Program

  • Monday, February 22, 2021, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Landscape Technicians Training Program has been offered in Rochester for more than 20 years. During this time, hundreds of people have used the training as a launchpad to a career in the nursery and landscape industry. Many graduates can be found locally as business owners, managers, designers and foremen/women. In 2021, we are pleased to announce that the program is now a part of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County.

Classes are taught by individuals who work in the horticulture industry, offering information that is scientifically-based, but in easy-to-understand language. Daily student interaction with employers helps build relationships that lead to job offers upon graduation.

Classes meet Monday – Friday 9 AM – 3 PM. Topics covered run from how plants function, soil basics and plant identification to basic design, proper planting techniques, how to build a patio, and integrated pest management.

Tuition for the six-week course is $1,000. There are several tuition-funding sources available, so please do not let cost keep you from inquiring about details.

While we hope that by the end of February current COVID-19 levels will have calmed, class size will be limited to ensure proper spacing, face masks will be required, and daily cleaning of the classroom will be provided.

If you are looking for employment or you want to learn more about horticulture, this is the class for you. For more information, please contact Marci Muller, 585-753-2557, mem545@cornell.edu.
