Growing Chinese Medicinal Herbs in New York State

  • Wednesday, February 28, 2018, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Producing Chinese medicinal herbs in the U.S. has slowly gained ground over the past two decades. Effective production and marketing involves close cooperation between licensed herbal practitioners and groups of farmers. Jean Giblette, founder and director of High Falls Foundation, Inc. will address this emerging market and discuss growing, harvesting, and storing of Chinese medicinal herbs. More than 50 small farm operations in Virginia and 45 in New York are currently selling domestically and ecologically grown Chinese herbs that are sold directly to licensed Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine practitioners. The Blue Ridge Center for Chinese Medicine has introduced a number of Chinese medicinal herbs available through their website for practitioners.

High Falls Foundation has worked closely with the Blue Ridge Center for years, and the two non-profits have determined that they will share a marketing platform. When New York grown Chinese medicinal herbs become available, they will be marketed through the existing website. The two groups are working to provide a one-stop shopping platform for domestic Chinese medicinal herbs.

This presentation is aimed at individuals who are looking to grow such herbs.
