Congratulations to the 2022 4-H Tractor Safety Certification Program Completers! On April 23rd, the following youths finished up the requirements for their tractor safety certification: Ryan Clark, Rushville, Tyler Little, Curtis Kierst, Langdon Miller, all of Canandaigua, David Hernandez, Clifton Springs, Max & Miriam Manning, Middlesex, Garrett Posman, Shortsville, Arthur Schreiber, Williamson, Zachary Stone, Lyons, and Callum Veley of Geneva. We have two young men who will be completing their tests over the summer Jachin Ditucci, Stanley and Chase Atwood, Shortsville. Good luck to both of you!! CCE would also like to give a huge thank you to the instructors, Julie & Pete Maslyn. Without you, CCE may not have been able to offer a program this year and we appreciate your dedication to the young people of Ontario County.

CHECK BACK IN NOVEMBER 2022 FOR THE DATES OF THE WINTER /SPRING 2023 CLASS

Ontario County 4-H sponsors an 8 week Tractor Safety Certification course each winter. It is held at the Cooperative Extension Office, 480 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY with additional visits to area machinery and equipment dealers. 

Students must attend all sessions to get their certification.

Eligibility:

Youth who are at least 14 years old by May 1, 2022 are eligible. Youth 14 and 15 are required to attend and pass the course in order to work for hire (using farm machinery) on other than their home farm. Youth will receive their certification by mail after successfully completing the written test and driving course. The program includes a newly revised workbook, videos, and demonstrations. There will be a number of experienced instructors on hand. Classes are held at the Cornell Extension Center in Canandaigua and area equipment dealerships.

Note: Youth younger than 14 and working on the family farm or older than 15 are not required to take this course but are still welcome.
